Abstract
Postoperative hemorrhage remains a major cause of poor outcome after meningioma surgery, and fortunately, delayed hemorrhage after operation is not common. The authors experienced two cases of delayed hemorrhage after meningioma surgery. In one patient, hemorrhage occurred at two weeks postoperatively in a 65-year-old woman with a psammomatous type meningioma on the right frontoparietal convexity. In the other, hemorrhage occurred at two and a half weeks postoperatively in a 68-year-old woman with a meningotheliomatous type meningioma on the left frontal convexity. Both showed no bleeding tendency preoperatively and postoperative laboratory findings also were normal. The authors describe two cases of delayed hemorrhage that occurred at more than two weeks after intracranial meningioma surgery. Experience of these two cases indicates that close observation and follow-up are needed after meningioma surgery even
when patients show no bleeding tendency.
